Inshore Launchmaster (ILM)
This is the qualification required to operate commercial boats under 20m, including fishing boats, out to about 12 miles from the coast. (The exact areas of operation vary with the type of boat).
The course consists of 20 learning modules. If you have recently done the LLO course with us, you have already done many of these modules. The LLO is a good stepping stone to ILM.
You will also have to do some practical exercises at sea under the supervision of a qualified skipper. The skipper will sign off your Task Book when you are competent. We do the teaching - the skipper checks to see that it is working.
You will also need to do a Restricted Radar Observer course. This is a four day course and can be done in Auckland, Tauranga, Nelson or Dunedin.
